Services of remembrance to commemorate and honour members of the armed forces who have lost their lives in war and military conflicts.  Ceremonies will take place at the war memorials in Banstead, Horley and Redhill on Sunday 12 November 2023 Banstead The Parade will assemble at the Banstead Community Centre, The Horseshoe, Bolters Lane, Banstead Village, SM7 2BQ from 10.15am and set off for the War Memorial at 10.35am approximately.  At approximately 10.55am the parade will reach the war memorial and the service will commence. Mayor's Wacky Races - Friday 24 November at the Town Hall The Mayor is holding a charity race night at the Town Hall on Friday 24 November.Famous cartoon characters will race each other with the throw of 3 dice. The first to cross the line wins. Each race will consist of an owner's contest. The Great British Spring Clean

A national initiative to keep the country tidy will happen between Friday, 17th March - 2nd April; I'm sure our local litter-picking group will continue their terrific efforts to keep our area litter free. To help with this, some LKRA members are meeting at 2 pm on Saturday 18th, March in the Recreation Ground car park to carry out a couple of hours of litter picking, so why not join them? Cllr Paul has responded to our article below to reassure residents that Surrey County Council isn't cutting services or outsourcing them. She has assured us that SCC will continue to respond to reported incidents as usual, and their core responsibilities will be carried out. Cllr Paul told us this is an established scheme of some years and is there to allow residents the opportunity to carry out additional maintenance if they so wish, and is not a replacement to SCC delivery of core responsibilities.
