Equality & Diversity Statement

The Lower Kingswood Residents Association (LKRA) are dedicated in encouraging a supportive and inclusive culture amongst our membership and any organisation with whom we are associated. It is within our best interest to promote diversity and to eliminate discrimination in the community.

Our aim is to ensure that all members and officers are given equal opportunity to participate and that our organisation is representative of all sections of society. Each member will be respected and valued, and so be able to contribute to our community, and not to provide less favourable facilities or treatment on the grounds of age, disability, gender, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, ethnic origin, colour, nationality, religion or belief or sex or sexual orientation. We opposed to all forms of unlawful and unfair discrimination.

All members and officers will be treated fairly and with respect. When the LKRA selects candidates as voluntary officers it will be based on the basis of their aptitude and ability. All members and any future candidates will be given help and encouragement to develop their full potential and to utilise their unique talents.

LKRA commitments:

  • To create an environment where individual differences and the contributions of all team members are recognised and valued.
  • To create an association that promotes dignity and respect for every member.
  • Not to tolerate any form of intimidation, bullying, or harassment, and to address those that breach this policy.
  • To promote equality in the association which LKRA believes is good management practice and makes sound community sense.
  • To encourage anyone who feels they have been subjected to discrimination to raise their concerns so we can apply corrective measures.
  • To encourage members to treat everyone with dignity and respect.
  • To regularly review all our practices and procedures so that fairness is maintained at all times.

LKRA will inform all members that a quality and diversity policy is in operation and that they are expected to comply with its requirements and promote fairness and dignity in the community. This policy will also be drawn to the attention of all stakeholders.

Our policy will be monitored and reviewed annually to ensure that quality and diversity is continually promoted in the association.
